Homework will be given on a
daily basis. It will be checked for both
completion and/or accuracy on a random basis at my
discretion ( See homework grading policy below). Bring your red pen DAILY. Homework is assigned in order for the student
to practice objectives learned in class and is essential to mastering this course!! NO
LATE HOMEWORK IS ACCEPTED!!
Homework grading policy: ( when graded for completion)
·
100% -
Student legitimately tried EVERY problem,
with evidence of work shown, even if
there are errors.
·
66% - More
than half but not all problems legitimately attempted
·
33%- Less
than half of all problems legitimately attempted
·
0%- Homework
not done or not present at due date/time
BELLWORK/DAILY-10%
This grade consists of any Bell
Work that is assigned ( You will keep a BW Notebook-one subject spiral) and
any practice worksheets and/or group activities done in class. My goal
is to have Bell Work at least twice a week (possibly more often). You will complete your BW in a separate
notebook. Bell Work is to completed within the first 5 minutes of class after the
tardy bell rings.
QUIZZES – 30%
·
Quizzes will be given regularly over a set number of objectives ( usually
at least 2 quizzes per chapter). I will
announce all quizzes ahead of time.
TESTS – 50 % ( NO
DROP TESTS GRADES)
·
Tests will be
given at the end of every chapter. All
major tests will be announced ahead of time. Tests will comprise 50% of
your grade. No study guides will be
given. Review problems from the end
of the chapter will be assigned as a study guide. I strongly encourage you
to take good notes as your notebook will
be an excellent study source!
Make-Up Policy
It is the STUDENT’S
responsibility to contact me concerning make-up work. Make up work must be completed on a day-for-a-day basis outlined in the
handbook. If work is not made up, a zero
will be recorded for the grade. I will
not “hunt you down” for make- up work.
As with everything, there are exceptional circumstances that will be
considered on a case-by-case basis.
Classroom Expectations
Be Punctual-
You are expected to be in the room when the tardy bell rings. If not, you will receive a demerit slip. If I must open the door to let you in, you are tardy!
Be Prepared- Bring all of your materials
for class daily…book, pencil, notebook, homework, calculator!
Be Responsible – Have all work completed on time!
Be Respectful - Only ONE PERSON at a time will speak.
When I am speaking, you are QUIET!!!! If you need to ask a question, raise your
hand.
** All work MUST be
completed in pencil or 10 points will be deducted from the assignment**
CHEATING POLICY:
Cheating WILL NOT be tolerated!! It
is acceptable to “work together” on your homework assignments. However, you cannot simply ask someone for
their paper to copy the problem….that is cheating and a zero will be given for
all parties involved, as well as a “U” in conduct for the quarter. Working together IS NOT allowed on any daily grades, quizzes ( except any group
projects that may be assigned). It is also considered cheating when you
talk about test/quiz material to another student that has not yet taken the
test.
WEEKLY SYLLABUS:
A
weekly syllabus will be posted on my blog no later than Monday afternoon of
each week. The weekly syllabus is always
subject to change; therefore, I will update any daily changes to assignments
on my blog. Please subscribe to and
